It exists somewhere between 25,000 BBY and 500 BBY. “The Old Republic” is a major era of the Star Wars franchise that die-hard fans are thoroughly familiar with. This era is, as of yet, completely undefined by any other stories so Mangold has a massive sandbox to play in for his new film. If this is the case, then there’s a good chance that Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi film will bring audiences back to the planet. That planet is where Luke Skywalker was living in a self-imposed exile, and it is where he believed the first Jedi Temple resided. The symbol used to represent this era on the new timeline is reminiscent of the “Prime Jedi” artwork that was seen on the planet Ahch-To in Episode VIII – The Last Jedi. Interestingly, there's already one major connection between this era and the Star Wars films that we're familiar with.
